emerald lakes/travel inception

Hey readers (all two of you (hi mama)), As I’m posting this from the Auckland International Airport, I’ve got a few updates you guys might be interested in. Firstly, remember our really awesome job that paid for our accommodation and sent us to different cities every week? Well, we’ve quit that job. Secondly, Josh and I are taking a month off from New Zealand to spend some time with both of our families. We’re leaving today, on my birthday, December 17th and flying back to NZ the second week of January. We’re doing Christmas week in the UK to spend the holidays with Josh’s family, and 3 weeks in Egypt for an Abo-Basha family reunion. I haven’t seen my older sister Ayah since she came to visit me in Spain with my family for a few days. That was like June 2016. I haven’t seen Amal since...shit maybe thanksgiving of 2015? I’m not totally sure to be honest. It’s the longest amount of time I’ve been apart from them. And I guess I kinda miss them. So I’m really looking forward to hanging out with them and finally introducing them to Josh. It’ll be Josh’s first visit to Egypt as well, and we’re both just really excited for it. So yeah, that’s gonna be a really awesome and slightly stressful family experience. A mini adventure within our current adventure. When we get back to NZ in mid-January, I’ll have less than 3 months left on my working holiday visa. Josh and I want to spend that last stretch in the South Island. So basically our time in the North Island is over. Which is why we quit our job two weeks before we head overseas. We spent the majority of the first week buying another campervan (oh yeah, in case I haven’t already told you guys, our old one died of engine failure. RIP). This one’s a bit more decked out with a bed that turns into two couches and a table. And we’ve also fulfilled one of Josh’s life-long dreams of owning a kayak!

We’ve spent 10 days with this new van/home driving through Northland, New Zealand’s sub-tropical paradise. We stayed at a different campground every night to try to tick as many places off the list. I’ll be posting pictures of all our experiences once I’ve caught up with photo-editing and have a better WiFi connection. Until then, here's more pictures of the Tongariro. Bon voyage bitches.
